SGFP Executive Committee

The SGFP Executive Committee is the ultimate governing authority of the Section and makes all major decisions about the direction, positions, and ethics/prudence of the SGFP.

Members of the Executive Committee are elected from each of the 11 Districts of the OMA and 2 Members-at-Large.

David Barber

Vice-Chair

Dr. David Barber has been an assistant professor at the Department of Family Medicine at Queen’s University since 2008. Prior to that, he spent 8 years working at a multi-specialty group in Indiana. Within the department of family medicine, he is the lead for information technology and the care of the elderly program, and is medical director at Providence Manor. His research focusses on primary care electronic medical record data, and is co-chair of the Canadian Primary Care Surveillance Network (CPCSSN) as well as the network director for the Eastern Ontario Network of CPCSSN. He lives in Kingston with his wife and 3 children.  

Darija Vujosevic

Treasurer

Dr. Darija Vujosevic has obtained Medical Doctor degree in former Yugoslavia and she graduated from University of Toronto, Department of Family Medicine in 2006. Dr. Vujosevic has been practising comprehensive primary care in Niagara as part of Niagara North Family Health Team. Dr. Vujosevic is also Lead Physician of Garden City Family Health Organization. Besides clinical work she is involved in teaching as Assistant Professor McMaster University and she also tutors family medicine residents in Mental Health and Behavioural Sciences. Dr. Vujosevic is also accomplished leader, having held numerous positions, she was President of Lincoln County Academy of Medicine, She was Chair of the Board of Niagara North FHT, she was Primary Care Clinical Lead for Ontario Health West and she holds Canadian Certified Physician Executive designation. Currently Dr. Vujosevic serves as Treasurer and Board member of Section of General and Family Practice.

Allan Studniberg

District 11

I completed my U of T MD in 1979 and FM Residency in 1981. I am in a group teaching practice, have provided obstetrical service for 33 years, and have FFS, FHG and not-for-profit WIC experience prior to going into a FHO. I served on the the Board of the Coalition of Family Physicians of Ontario from 1997 to 2008 and the OMA Board from 2003 to 2014. I have been a member of the SGFP Executive since 2014. I have served on multiple committees including Member Services, Health Policy, Education and Prevention, Physician Health Advisory, MRC Review, Forms and others.    

Marni Brooks

District 11

Dr. Marni Brooks is a Toronto based Family Physician focusing in the area of Cannabinoid Medicine. Her other clinical interests include primary care and ongoing advocacy work as Chair of two Medical Interest Groups and on the SGFP Executive at the Ontario Medical Association.  She founded the first Medical Interest Group in Cannabinoid Medicine in the country at the OMA. Dr. Brooks also created one of the first slide decks to be accredited by CCFP on Cannabinoid Medicine and Chronic Pain. Her other passion is in Addiction Medicine, an area in which she practised exclusively prior to her focus in Cannabinoid Medicine. She has recently integrated her two passions, using Cannabinoid therapy as a tool when treating patients with addiction. Other interests of Dr. Brooks include working as an Independent Medical Examiner and as an expert witness in criminal cases. Dr. Brooks is committed to educating her physician peers as well as patients and their caregivers on the benefits of cannabis for a variety of health conditions, either as sole therapy or in conjunction with other treatments
